Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding of the disease, highlight the importance of early detection, and support those affected.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with around 1 in 7 women diagnosed during their lifetime. Each year, approximately 55,000 people are diagnosed, including around 400 men.
It is likely that many of us know someone, whether a family member, friend, or colleague, who has been impacted by breast cancer.
Raising awareness, encouraging regular self-checks, and sharing reliable information can make a real difference. It is also important to recognise the work of organisations that provide care, resources, and support for people living with breast cancer and their loved ones.
Here are some useful resources to find out more, access support, or get involved:
Breast Cancer UK
Macmillan Cancer Support
National Breast Cancer Foundation
This month is a good opportunity to educate ourselves, look after our health, and show support for those affected by breast cancer.
